The attempts at pathos and romance are let down by the plastic action figure character models, and most of the gags are generic. Meanwhile, the story about seeking out the Holy Grail (actually an alien artifact) with a Russian priest is cute, but isn't going to make a star out of Sam Stone. The big technical achievement here is that many more enemies can appear on screen at once, and that results in some impressive scenes, but once the spectacle wore off my reaction was, “Ah, great, another wave of those skeleton bastards.” You can only focus on deleting so many beasts at once. They repeat the same death animation every time, thousands of times. The enemies don’t ragdoll hilariously, for instance. Still, as much as I enjoyed the high framerates, I'm disappointed that the computing power available in 2020 isn't put to full use, even in service of more jankiness. Though it looks almost as old, Serious Sam 4 incorporates modern ideas that make it better than Serious Sam 3. The fun of shooting at swarms of flying drones was overestimated (also, guys who spawn on faraway perches and shoot homing projectiles), and certain sections are tiring, but for the most part I was just harried enough, not frustrated. Normal kept me on my toes, while Easy let me relax without it becoming a cakewalk. The cannon gun somehow fires rolling cannon balls that are larger than Sam himself and turn everything in their path to goo, and of course I was delighted when the game introduced it and then said, 'Hey, don't worry about ammo conservation, just run around this maze bowling down giant pink fleshy alien mech-guys for 10 minutes.'Īt its worst it gets too methodical, but the difficulty is well-designed. Serious Sam 4 is at its best right after it introduces a new weapon, because it fills an arena with ammo and then throws gobs of enemies at you so that you can go wild. Rarely in shooters is it a good idea to face enemies head on in the open, but Serious Sam 4 lets you have a few Braveheart moments. I waited until I could see the glow of its demon eyes before firing both guns into its forehead, and then reloaded them simultaneously (how?) while dodging out of the way of its tumbling corpse-just for style points, as it would've clipped through me. In one of my favorite scenes, I charged across the French countryside wielding dual double-barreled shotguns at a bull that was charging back at me. Serious Sam 4 lets you have a few Braveheart moments.īullet-hosing hundreds of beasts is satisfying in the way power washing a house is, but I also enjoyed occasional finesse shots with the overpowered Devastator, and showy maneuvers that I did just for the hell of it. That tension sustains almost all of Serious Sam 4's 10-or-so hour campaign, which is playable solo or in online co-op. You're always on the verge of being overtaken, gripping the edge of control as you shoot at cyclops beasts and kamikaze guys and vampires and insectoids, putting just enough space between you and them to give your bullets room to travel. At least the jank is endearing (mostly), and Serious Sam 4 is fun-like the other Serious Sam games it's still about murdering overwhelming hordes of aliens with enormous guns while moving backwards at the speed of a figure skater. I certainly hope there’s a way for Formula 1 and Ind圜ar can co-exist together and ride this wave of interest from the fans. recently with the Drive to Survive series. They’ve created a lot of fans here in the U.S. With F1 being U.S.-owned, it’s no surprise they’re trying to have a better presence here in the U.S. "I think it’s all exciting stuff, especially for the world of motor sports. I think Vegas will be a great host, a lot of fun for everyone that will attend and travel in. Jimmie Johnson, 7-time NASCAR Cup champ and current Ind圜ar driver for Chip Ganassi Racing: “As a race fan, I’m super excited to know there will be three Formula 1 races. For McLaren this is awesome news for our people, partners, and of course our fans, and as an American I’m proud we will see another F1 race in the U.S. Zak Brown, McLaren Racing CEO: “A race in Las Vegas is not only a fantastic addition to the F1 calendar but clear testament to the exciting growth of Formula 1 in the U.S. "There are some promoters who have expiring agreements, and probably some of the current Grands Prix will no longer be part of the calendar," Domenicali said in a recent interview with Sky Sports.Īutoweek reached out to a number of individuals for their thoughts about F1 and whether or not it’s encroaching on Ind圜ar’s home turf. And the way Domenicali put it, that is potentially bad news for fans of those particular tracks. Four of the venues on the current 2022 F1 schedule-France, Belgium, Mexico, and Monaco-are all in the final year of their respective contracts with F1. Domenicali said the 2023 F1 schedule could have a record 24 races on its schedule (this year’s schedule is 22 after the cancellation of the Russian Grand Prix due to the conflict with Ukraine).īut expansion also means several long-time F1 host tracks may not be in the mix after this season. In this case, it's Las Vegas joining the newest venue, Miami, which hosts its first F1 Grand Prix on May 8.Īnd F1 is reportedly next eyeing a return to South Africa for the first time in nearly 30 years as a potential venue. In several recent interviews, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has said two of the series’ top priorities are to find ways to bring in more revenue, as well as continue its worldwide expansion. race to this year’s schedule, the May 8 Miami Grand Prix, to join the long-standing F1 race at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas (which also just renewed its relationship with F1 through 2026). On the surface, F1’s move to return to Las Vegas is not all that surprising. in 2023-a return to Las Vegas after a 41-year absence-what does that mean in the potential battle for open-wheel racing fans in America between the global F1 series and the U.S.-based NTT Ind圜ar Series? With Wednesday night’s announcement that Formula 1 will add a third race in the U.S. Outright war? Peaceful coexistence? Or somewhere in-between? in the same season, the most recent being in 1982 (Long Beach, Detroit, Las Vegas).

In recent years, OpenStack has become increasingly popular with telecommunications providers. For others, it enabled them to use their existing hardware while being able to spin up resources in a cloud-like way. Some companies saw it as a way to become an alternative to the likes of AWS or Azure (e.g. Initially, OpenStack was embraced by a number of different sectors of the IT industry. It began as a joint venture between Rackspace and NASA to provide an Open Source cloud solution. It enables you to deploy compute, storage, networking and other resources similar to the major cloud providers. OpenStack is a way of running your own Infrastructure-as-a-service platform. In this post we will cover discovering services running on OpenStack. This ranges from statically defined configuration to consuming APIs from different cloud providers. But you couldī) Use Variable like 206.In a previous post I mentioned that Prometheus has a number of ways to discover services. The LEGENDS show in default the NAME of the Metric. But the NAME of the Metrik is key! Copy and Paste it from here to the selection in Grafana! The Values behind HELP and TYPE are irrelevant. If you like to start with that just download the JSON File from my Github Repo here and import it as a new Dashboard.Įxport all Metrics from the Prometheus Metrics Site to Notepad++ / Sublime for easy searching! I created just a simple Example Dashboard with VM Account, Memory etc. Exportername from the Prometheus Config)Īttention! It makes sence to declare EACH Cluster with a valid NAME in the Prometheus Config! Now we created a new Dashboard and select METRICS under Prometheus/Nutanix.(btw. Just use the PrometheusIP with the Default Port 9090! We declare Prometheus as a new Datasource in Grafana.Modify /etc/prometheus/prometheus.yml and put in the following section! Restart the Prometheus Service!Ĭontroll the default Prometheus on Port :9090 if the new created TARGET is present and working. But for the work with Grafana the Exporter needs to be declared as a TARGET ! We will find the Metrics now on the give :port on the Prometheus. We reboot the VM and check if all is fine and running automatically now: Creation of a new Service in /etc/systemd/system In my Homelab i used a root user! Dont do that in a production environment! Create a specific user for these task!Įnable the service with “systemctl enable prometheus_rvice” Other Example could we found in the Github Repo!Ģ. Bash-Script will be created in the share of /go/bin (Example Code). We create the Shell Script in /etc/systemd/system as a new SERVICE! We also create a Service on the prometheus server to be reboot aware! Now we build a little shell script which is doing these call automatically. With a click on Metric you get all Metrics which are available. The Result on Port :9494 on our Prometheus Server is as follows:īINGO. Username/Password could be masked in variables if needed! You could connect via IP or create an DNS Entry for it. If you are connection to more then one cluster you have to describe for each cluster a seperate port! If we describe no seperate port Prometheus is using port 9405. No we try to check if our new created VIEWER User is able to feth some metrics from the nutanix cluster. We will test the go/bin share with the -help command:
I just don’t think it makes sense to put them in the lower priced category, though the case could easily be made that they compete with the $1,000+ trainers (and are almost universally a better buy). Mid-High End $700-$1,000: This category exists because there’s a clear line in the sand between the flood of sub-$599 trainers, and the flotilla of $700-800 trainers. Most of these are wheel-on trainers, except one…the new Elite Zumo. Mid-Range $500-$700: These are where we see electronic resistance control, as well as the majority of features and full app integration. Most apps support these in a basic manner. So, here’s the 2018 buckets, aligned to the trends of trainer pricing in 2018:īudget – Sub-$500: These tend to be basic in functions, and lack automated controls, but some do still have some electronics. Meanwhile, someone looking for a $599 trainer isn’t likely the same person as one looking at a $1,199 trainer. Meaning, someone looking to spend $599 is probably OK spending $699, and someone teetering at $529 might be OK spending that $699 too if the benefits make sense. My purpose isn’t so much moving the goalposts, as it is making the groupings more logical. I had to change my price bucketing last year to account for this, and once again I tweaked things a tiny bit this year. For example, functionality and accuracy that used to be reserved for $1,200 trainers has slid down to $900 trainers. Over the last few years we’ve continued to see major shifting in price vs feature-set combinations. Still, I’m lucky enough to have been able to try almost everything made by all the major trainer companies this year, at least at the mid to upper end (I don’t tend to review the 183 different models of trainers from $75 to $200). This is, again, my *recommendations*, not the holy grail of everything ever made by everyone. Though I will briefly discuss why I didn’t include some trainers in this piece at the end. My goal is NOT to make a roundup of every trainer on the market. I keep it simple and explain exactly why I feel a given way. When I look at recommendations across all products I make, I try and recommend products to you in the same way that I’d do to friends and family. Certainly, there are some trainers that were announced this year that aren’t yet available – you won’t find those recommendations here unless I have a unit on-hand. How I make trainer recommendationsįirst and foremost, I only recommend trainers I’ve actually used. I’ve already posted many such reviews this fall. Trainer reviews will happen as final versions of trainers come in. There are no further watches to be announced by any mainstream wearable company this year. My goal being to wrap up all the outstanding new wearable reviews by that timeframe. I have notes at the bottom of this post for all my caveats and why-nots.įinally, for those looking for general sports technology recommendations (watches/action cams/activity trackers/scales/etc.…), I tend to publish those late the week of Nov 12th. So for things that are still outstanding, it’s tougher for me to recommend them at this time. Generally speaking, I’m not going to recommend something unless I have a unit in the DCR Cave (exceptions are noted as such). And those that aren’t are within 2-4 weeks of shipping. While not everything that’s been announced is shipping, most things are. Some of them made big jumps, while most made more incremental bumps in specs and features. In any case, we saw new smart trainers from virtually every major brand this year, as well as some smaller brands. You can reference last year’s post though to see some of those cheaper suggestions. As such, all my recommendations are old there (though, the tech and trainers themselves in that category frankly haven’t changed any). The reason is relatively simple: While I occasionally briefly try non-smart trainers at trade shows or the like, I just don’t ride them these days. Specifically ones that transmit some sort of ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart signal (dual/concurrently), and allow control of the trainer itself. Instead of all trainers, I’m focusing on smart trainers. But with so many new (and really good) trainers coming out this past year, I’m narrowing that focus a bit. Now in the past I’ve covered all trainers, from $70 units up to $1,600 trainers. And the new trainer announcement season itself has stretched from late spring to just this morning (with two new entrants in the last 24 hours) With indoor training apps and the entire experience becoming more and more immersive, more and more people are using them all year round. Though in reality, that’s actually not terribly true these days. It’s that time of year again: Indoor trainer season. |
